Is the consumption of grapes good for athletes?

We give you a few reasons to eat grapes if you do sports.

We know that grapes help us to have a healthy diet and that far from eliminating them from our eating habits we can incorporate them more often.

But if we practice sports on a regular basis, is it advisable to consume them?

In other articles, we have already denied that they put us on weight because of their sugar content which, on the contrary, is a favourable consumption and provides energy to our body if we take them in moderation.

Even so, grapes have a bad reputation for their high caloric value when compared to other fruits. However, when we practice sports, they make a good contribution of calories that translates into energy (100 grams of grapes give us around 70 calories).

Therefore, if we are athletes, we can incorporate them into our diet rigorously and in a controlled way, but not give up the many benefits of physical activity, but what are these benefits? Take some notes!

Fibre

The grape is a fruit with a high percentage of fibre that helps regulate our weight, provide a feeling of fullness and combat constipation problems.

Carbohydrates

If we practice an intense sport, they are a fabulous source of energy thanks to the carbohydrates it contains.

Antioxidants

On other occasions we have described how rich in antioxidants grapes are (they contain polyphenols in a higher percentage in the skin), preventing signs of aging and other skin problems.

But in sport it is also essential to avoid oxidative stress, especially in aerobic sports activities such as running or cycling. Grapes contain natural antioxidants that improve the performance of the athlete.

Antioxidants help improve joint flexibility and mobility.

And more…

They contain 80% water, which is lost a lot when doing sports activity.

High content of vitamin C.

Rich in potassium that is related to muscle formation (for every 100 grams of fruit we find 191 mg of potassium).

In the field of sports nutrition, there are already supplements for athletes that contain grapes in different forms.

Therefore, it is demonstrated that consuming grapes by athletes are all benefits, but definitely in a controlled way. And of course, from Uvasdoce we encourage you to practice any sport that together with a proper diet are a symptom of health and vitality. Cheer up!
