How many calories do grapes have?

Grapes have always had a “bad reputation” because their caloric value is relatively high, but it’s not true that this fruit has many calories.

But like almost all fruits, grapes provide a lot of water, fibre, vitamins, and sugars. Moreover, grapes can help us detoxify our bodies.

The caloric value of grapes

The caloric value of the grape varies depending on the variety, green grapes usually contain about 40 calories per 100 grams and red grapes have about 60 calories. Let’s say that a grape provides on average about 3 calories per berry.

As we can see, we should not focus only on adding or subtracting calories because they have many other relevant nutrients for recommended consumption, even when looking to lose weight.

When we talk about nutrients from grapes we refer to:

Vitamins of group B and C.

Fibres: The skin of the grape provides extra fibres, very important for the proper functioning of the intestinal system, as well as being essential for the absorption of sugars. Fibres are also important for fighting cholesterol.

Minerals: Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, and most significantly Potassium, are very important in the diet of athletes, as they help the proper functioning of the muscle.

Antioxidants: They fight free radicals, responsible for aging and degenerative diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

In conclusion, we could say that this fruit in a balanced consumption helps maintain a healthy weight. On the other hand, the grape is very important given the amount of nutrients it carries to our body.
